Department Of Master Of Computer Applications

  • The Department of Master of Computer Applications was established in 2010. The department trains future educators, researchers and software professionals through a curriculum designed by CUSAT. The department moulds young outstanding students who are academically strong in both theory and practices. It organizes supplementary programs, which include Technical seminars & Mock Interviews to prepare the student for a career in the computing field or for graduate study. Special orientation is provided to the staff periodically for updating their strength in latest technological changes.

    To provide high quality education in the field of computer applications and there by create computer professionals with proper leadership skills, commitment and moral values.

    MCA department in College of Engineering Vadakara has made incredible contributions in the college in both academics and cultural activities. Academically, the most prestigious moment for the department is when Prajina B (2012-2015 batch), secured the First Rank for MCA under CUSAT in 2015.

    Apart from academics students has also made fabulous contributions in the cultural activities conducted by the college and even the entire CUSAT. In connection with the college arts program SAHASRA 2015, the students from the dept have taken their part. MCA students have been able to compete with the other 6 Engineering branches of CEV and secured the 3rd place in SAHASRA 2015.

  • MCA Highlights


    MCA is a course exclusively designed to meet the IT requirements of various organizations. The well balanced course significantly emphasizes on planning, designing and building of complex commercial application software and system software.

    Our particular goals are:

    1. The first year courses are aimed at skills development in computers using various technologies and also focus Students Communication skills development, Program logic etc.
    2. To provide students with basic computer programming & problem solving skills. To provide students with management education & communication skills.
    3. The second year is more focused on core courses providing conceptual frame work
    4. To develop the ability among students to plan analyze, design, code, test, implement & maintain a software product.
    5. To experience the students in finding solutions to real life application involving technical, managerial, economical & social constraints which is provided through laboratory work, industrial assignment & projects.
    5. Training to develop web based applications.
    6. The third year provides the specialization and the project work.
    7. Provide greater exposure to different emerging technologies.
